Rapper GloRilla, whose real name is Gloria Woods, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Gwinnett County, Georgia, on charges of driving under the influence. The arrest was made by an officer from the Suwanne Police Department after witnessing the rapper making a U-turn against a red light at approximately 4 a.m. Woods’ brother was present as a passenger in the vehicle.
According to reports, the officer detected the smell of alcohol on Woods’ breath and marijuana emanating from her car. Additionally, the officer observed that her eyes were watery and bloodshot. Woods allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol but claimed she believed she was capable of driving safely. However, during a sobriety test, her top slipped, exposing her chest, and she appeared to be unaware of her nudity. TMZ reported that she also exhibited unsteady walking and failed walking and eyesight concentration tests. Woods reportedly refused to take a breathalyzer test.
Further inspection of the vehicle led to the discovery of marijuana and an open alcoholic drink by another police officer. Woods was subsequently released on bond within a few hours.
GloRilla is scheduled to support Megan Thee Stallion on her upcoming Hot Girl Summer tour, which commences in less than a month. Recent social media posts have shown Woods preparing for the tour by engaging in workouts and getting in shape. Both artists have expressed their excitement for the upcoming trek in the comments section of their posts.
Rolling Stone reached out to GloRilla’s representative for comment but has not received a response at the time of writing.
