Las Vegas, NV – Janarius Robinson, a defensive end for the Las Vegas Raiders, was arrested on Tuesday morning by Las Vegas police for driving under the influence. The arrest took place at 5:59 a.m. in the valet area of ARIA Las Vegas, a popular resort and casino on the Las Vegas Strip, according to local news sources KTNV and KSNV.
The timing of Robinson’s arrest is significant, as it comes just days before the Super Bowl, which will be held at Allegiant Stadium, the home of the Raiders. With the NFL world currently focused on Sin City, this incident has drawn attention from fans and media alike.
The Raiders organization released a statement acknowledging the incident and stating that they are in the process of gathering more information. Robinson’s charge is listed as DUI of alcohol and/or controlled or prohibited substance, first offense, which is a misdemeanor according to Las Vegas Justice Court records.
Robinson, who joined the Raiders’ active roster in December, had a short tenure with the team, appearing in the final six games of the season and starting in Week 14 and Week 15. Prior to joining the Raiders, he had spent time on the practice squads of the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles during the 2022 season. Robinson was drafted in the fourth round by the Vikings in 2021 after playing college football at Florida State.
The 2024 Super Bowl, being hosted in Las Vegas, marks the first time the gambling capital of the world has hosted the event in NFL history. The week-long festivities kicked off on Monday with the league’s annual media day, also known as Super Bowl 2024 Opening Night.
As more details emerge, the focus will be on how the Raiders organization handles this incident and what consequences Robinson may face.
