On the night of Feb. 18, 2014, Horatio Johnson was seen choking Lakeitha Joseph at a recording studio in Metairie, LA. It was also reported that he was seen moving two “objects” out of the studio and into a van. Johnson and his girlfriend Brittany Martin then drove to a local Walmart where they purchased a kettlebell and some nylon rope.

The bodies of Kenneth and Lakeitha Joseph were found weeks later in the Intercoastal Waterway outside New Orleans. Lakeitha Joseph’s body surfaced on March 10 with a rope hanging from her leg. Kenneth Joseph was found 12 days later, his leg still tied to a 30-pound kettlebell. The Josephs were bound, beaten, and tied to the kettlebells. They were then tossed alive off the Interstate 510 bridge and into the water where they drowned.

Four suspects were arrested in connection to the deaths; Johnson, Martin, Steven Bradley, and Frank Mike, Jr. All four were convicted, but only Johnson was convicted of murder. He was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison for the crime.
