Prisoner Escapes from New York City Hospital Using Bedsheets and Taxi

A 44-year-old prisoner receiving medical treatment escaped from Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan, New York City. The escape occurred on Wednesday at around 4:30 p.m. and the prisoner remains at large as of Thursday. The individual had been in custody since July 31 for drug possession and was brought to the hospital on August 4 for medical treatment. According to the police, the prisoner used bedsheets to rappel from a fifth-floor window, reaching a rooftop below. From there, the prisoner made it to the street and hailed a taxi. The New York City Police Department and the Department of Correction are currently searching for the escaped prisoner.
