Police Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Victim and Suspect in San Jose Homicide

San Jose police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred last month, as well as locating the suspect believed to be responsible for the crime. The incident took place on May 9 in the vicinity of McLaughlin Avenue near the Interstate 280 overpass.

According to authorities, responding officers discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene. The victim was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, on May 12, the man succumbed to his injuries, and his identity remains unknown as confirmed by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

This tragic incident marks the 13th homicide investigated by San Jose police this year, with the total number of homicides having since risen to 17. The victim is described as a man of East Indian descent, aged between 30 and 34 years old. He stood approximately 6 feet tall, weighed around 140 pounds, had straight black hair, and sported a trident tattoo on his right arm. Within the encampment, he was known by the name “Kumar” and may have attended San Jose schools between 2006 and 2010.

The police have identified Joseph “Jo Jo” Martinez as the primary suspect in the shooting and are actively working to locate him. Martinez is described as a Latino man, standing 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 115 pounds, and bearing a teardrop tattoo near his left eye.
