Police in Pennsylvania have expanded their search area for escaped convict Danelo Cavalcante to between 8 and 10 square miles. Cavalcante, a convicted murderer, broke free from a state prison last Thursday and is considered “very dangerous” by the police. Since his escape, there have been five confirmed sightings, with one resident reporting seeing him outside Longwood Gardens. The search area has grown from the initial 2-mile radius given by the police. A reward of $20,000 is being offered for information leading to Cavalcante’s capture.
Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan called Cavalcante’s escape an “outrage” and stated that there would be a thorough investigation into the incident. If Cavalcante is captured, he will not be returned to Chester County Prison, where he escaped from. The observation tower guard who failed to spot him or report his escape has been put on administrative leave.
In a separate manhunt, officials in Washington, D.C., are searching for murder suspect Christopher Haynes, who escaped police custody at George Washington University Hospital. Police in the U.K. are also searching for terror suspect Daniel Khalife, who escaped prison in Wandsworth, London.
