In the early hours of the morning, a police chase ensued after officers walked in on a robbery at Loom Cannabis, a dispensary located on Last at 696 in Southfield, Michigan. The suspects quickly fled the scene in a stolen silver Hyundai, leading police on a high-speed pursuit along Interstate 696. The entire chase was captured on dashcam video.
The pursuit lasted for several miles, with speeds reaching over 100 miles per hour. During the chase, the suspects discarded stolen merchandise from the vehicle. Eventually, the chase led the suspects onto Mound Road, where they traveled in the wrong direction on the northbound lanes. Southfield police, in collaboration with other jurisdictions, successfully apprehended the suspects near 8 Mile Road.
The four suspects, all in their 20s, are currently in custody. Three of them have criminal records, with authorities suspecting them to be serial burglars. It is believed that these individuals may be responsible for multiple break-ins at marijuana dispensaries in the area. Southfield police detectives are working with Centerline detectives to investigate any similarities between these cases.
Due to federal regulations, these businesses often operate using cash and lack access to traditional banking services, making them attractive targets for criminals.
