Police Chase and Crash Leads to Manhunt in Oakland, California Neighborhood

A wild police chase and crash in Oakland has resulted in a manhunt for a suspect in a local neighborhood. The incident began when Oakland officers spotted a gray sedan wanted in connection with a previous incident. Around noon, police attempted to pull over the driver, but the suspect fled.

The chase unfolded as the gray sedan sped through the Oakland Hills towards Lafayette, swerving recklessly and endangering other vehicles on the road. Eventually, the suspect drove back onto Highway 24 towards Oakland, evading other cars and driving erratically. The pursuit came to an end when the suspect lost control of the vehicle, crashing into the median just past the Telegraph exit.

Three individuals were seen fleeing from the car. Two of them jumped over a guardrail and escaped, while the third person was apprehended at the scene. One suspect ran into a neighborhood near Telegraph and 57th Street, hiding in a backyard. Officers eventually located and arrested him. Meanwhile, other officers conducted a door-to-door search with a canine to find the remaining suspect. They eventually found the individual in a backyard near Vicente Street.

Residents in the area witnessed the police activity, with one witness describing the scene as officers blocking off the street and having approximately 20 cars involved in the effort. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and the Aranda Police Department were also present during the operation.
