Pennsylvania Middle School Counselor Charged with Sexual Misconduct Involving a Student

Kelly Ann Schutte, 35

Kelly Ann Schutte, a 35-year-old counselor at Pennridge South Middle School in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, has been charged with several felonies and misdemeanors related to the alleged rape of a 14-year-old student. According to Montgomery County records, the charges against Schutte include three counts of intercourse or sexual contact with a student, corruption of minors, and three counts of indecent assault of a person under 16 years old.

Local news sources, including FOX 29 Philadelphia, obtained court documents indicating that the alleged sexual misconduct began during a class field trip in fall 2022. Reports suggest that Schutte frequently summoned the student to her office during school hours. Additionally, the counselor and student reportedly communicated through school apps like Canvas during the academic year, and later via Snapchat, a social media platform where messages can automatically disappear.

The alleged incidents took place in various locations, including Schutte’s car, her home, and at the victim’s residence when his parents were absent. Following the emergence of these allegations in July 2023, Pennridge South Middle School placed Schutte on administrative leave. The school emphasized its strong stance against any inappropriate conduct between employees and students, declaring such behavior intolerable.

The investigation into these allegations was initiated after the victim’s mother contacted 911, expressing concerns about Schutte’s inappropriate behavior with her son. William Joshua Buchanan, Schutte’s attorney from Buchanan Law, has not provided a comment on the charges at this time.
