One Person Shot in Apparent Retail Theft on San Pablo Avenue

In an incident of apparent retail theft, one person was shot early Wednesday morning at a business located on the 2400 block of San Pablo Avenue in Oakland, according to the Oakland Police Department (OPD). The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was found at the scene with at least one gunshot wound. Prompt medical attention was provided, and the victim is currently in stable condition.

According to preliminary findings from OPD’s ongoing investigation, two individuals entered the business. One of them proceeded to approach the counter and brandished a firearm, pointing it at one of the victims. Under the threat to their life, the victim complied with the armed individual’s demand to open the cash register. Meanwhile, the second victim began to approach the armed suspect. In response, the suspect discharged their firearm, striking the second victim. Following the shooting, the two suspects swiftly fled the area.

The Oakland Police Department continues to investigate the incident, gathering evidence and seeking additional information. The motive behind the retail theft and the identities of the suspects remain unknown at this time. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
