Oklahoma Woman Charged with Murder in Mother’s Suicide

Jaye Dee Watts, 44, has been charged with kidnapping and felony murder by caretaker abuse in Oklahoma City, following her alleged role in her 72-year-old mother’s suicide. The Oklahoma City Police reported that Watts “intentionally provided a firearm” to her mother, Lynda Watts, leading to her death.

Lynda Watts was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at her Blue Quail Drive residence on September 10. Security footage from outside the home showed a dispute between Jaye Dee Watts and her mother. According to reports from KWTV, the footage captured Watts saying, “Here’s a gun,” and, “Do with it what you f—ing will, b—-.” Additionally, KOCO-TV reported Watts was heard telling her mother to “take your pill or choke on it and die.”

In an interview with the police, Jaye Dee Watts expressed the challenges of being a “24/7 caregiver.” Her Facebook profile indicates she is a cancer survivor and had previously described her mother as an “amazing mom” in a 2017 post.

Following the Oklahoma City Police Department’s investigation, the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for Jaye Dee Watts’ arrest.
