A New Jersey man, John Hargreaves, deliberately crashed his SUV into a home and the offices of a municipal police department in Independence Township. The incidents occurred on September 20, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either crash.
Hargreaves first drove his vehicle into the garage door of a home in Liberty Township, with the intention of harassing the homeowner, who is known to him. Shortly after, he proceeded to drive into the Independence Township police headquarters, causing significant damage. One officer narrowly escaped being struck by Hargreaves’ vehicle.
Upon exiting the SUV, Hargreaves raised his hands in the air and appeared to celebrate while playing the Guns N’ Roses song “Welcome to the Jungle” loudly on his car stereo. He was subsequently taken into custody by officers.
Hargreaves has been charged with burglary, criminal mischief, and a weapons count for both crashes. Additionally, he faces charges of terrorism, aggravated assault, and causing widespread injury or damage for the incident at the police station.
