Multiple People Wounded in Shooting Near Union Station Following Chiefs’ Super Bowl Victory Parade

Multiple people were wounded in a shooting that occurred near Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri, following the conclusion of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade on Wednesday. The Kansas City Police Department confirmed on social media that “multiple people were struck” when shots were fired in the vicinity of the garage west of Union Station. Two individuals who were armed have been taken into custody for further investigation, according to the police.

In response to the incident, the police urged anyone in the vicinity to evacuate the area promptly and safely to facilitate the treatment of the shooting victims. They also requested people to avoid the Union Station parking garage area to allow first responders to reach the scene unhindered.

Videos and images shared on social media depicted individuals wearing Chiefs jerseys and hats fleeing from Union Station, while police officers and first responders swiftly arrived at the scene. Additional visuals showed several injured individuals receiving medical attention and being transported on stretchers.

The Kansas City Police Department issued a message on social media, calling for witnesses to the shooting to meet with officers at a nearby intersection. Furthermore, they established a child reunification location within Union Station, as several children had become separated from their parents or chaperones during the chaotic situation.

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson and his wife were present at the parade when the shots were fired, but they were confirmed to be safe and secure, as stated by the governor’s office on social media. State law enforcement personnel are collaborating with local authorities to support response efforts.

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly, who was also attending the parade, reported being evacuated and out of harm’s way. She encouraged everyone to follow instructions and updates provided by the police.
