Prospect High School, a local educational institution, fell victim to vandalism when three juvenile suspects scaled the roofs of multiple buildings and shattered skylights. The estimated cost of the damage amounts to $4,100. Shockingly, one of the suspects was identified as a student attending the very same school.
In a separate incident, an employee who served as treasurer for a charitable organization in Saratoga discovered that someone had gained access to the organization’s checks. The perpetrator altered the checks and forged the victim’s signature, resulting in a loss of approximately $14,820.
Petty theft also plagued the community, as an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence on Sevilla Lane was targeted. The thief made off with tools valued at $250 between the evening of March 12 and the morning of March 13.
Exploiting the trust of a Saratoga resident, an individual contacted them through an online community forum, posing as a known associate. Through deceitful means, the perpetrator convinced the victim to provide money via gift cards and wire transfers, resulting in a staggering loss of about $188,176.
Another instance of petty theft occurred when a debit card was stolen from a wallet left inside an unlocked vehicle on Kevin Street. The thief subsequently used the stolen card to make fraudulent purchases totaling approximately $270.
A vehicle burglary occurred between February 29 and March 17, where an unknown individual entered a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence on Russell Lane. The thief made off with a GPS device, loose change, a key, and the owner’s manual and vehicle registration, resulting in a loss valued at $590.
The final incident involved an altercation at Bella Saratoga restaurant on Big Basin Way. A patron displayed belligerent behavior inside the establishment and was asked to leave. However, the situation escalated as the individual became combative with staff, physically assaulting an employee by punching and biting them. The suspect resisted arrest, employing force against the responding deputies. Eventually, the suspect was apprehended.
