Moorpark Man Arrested for Involuntary Manslaughter in Protester’s Death

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 50-year-old Loay Abdelfattah Alnaji of Moorpark, on charges of involuntary manslaughter. The arrest, made Thursday morning, relates to the death of 69-year-old Paul Kessler, a pro-Israel protester, during a rally in Thousand Oaks. Kessler succumbed to injuries allegedly inflicted by Alnaji, who reportedly struck him in the head with a megaphone. The incident, which occurred amid a confrontation with pro-Palestinian protesters, led to Kessler’s death being classified as a homicide by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. Alnaji is currently held on a $1 million bail. The sheriff’s office continues its investigation and encourages anyone with information to come forward by calling (805) 384-4745.
