Authorities in Oakland have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred during a late-night argument on International Boulevard last month. Donya Spivy, a 20-year-old man from Modesto, was shot inside his car on March 14 while engaged in a dispute with the occupants of another vehicle. Tragically, Spivy succumbed to his injuries the following day, and as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
A GoFundMe page set up by Spivy’s family reveals that he was a father to a one-year-old child and was expecting another baby at the time of his untimely death. Described as a beloved individual, Spivy’s passing has left a void in the lives of many who knew him.
According to authorities, the individuals in the other vehicle had been observed harassing Spivy’s girlfriend and attempting to coerce her into prostitution as she walked along International Boulevard. It is believed that Spivy intervened in an effort to protect his partner, leading to the altercation that ultimately resulted in his tragic demise.
Following the shooting, Spivy managed to drive a short distance before crashing his Infiniti sedan into the gate of an auto repair shop. Emergency services rushed him to Highland Hospital, where he passed away at approximately 3 p.m. on March 15.

I remember reading about a similar incident that happened in my city a few years ago. It was a tragic case where a young man lost his life due to a senseless argument that escalated into violence.
I was living in a neighborhood that was known for its high crime rate, and unfortunately, incidents like this were not uncommon. One evening, I was walking home from work when I heard a commotion coming from a nearby street. Curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to investigate.
This is absolutely outrageous! Another innocent life lost to senseless violence. It is infuriating to see that shootings like these continue to happen, leaving families devastated and communities in fear. The fact that this incident occurred during a late-night argument is even more disturbing. When will we prioritize the safety of our neighborhoods and take concrete actions to prevent such tragedies?
It is disheartening to witness the constant cycle of violence in Oakland. We need stronger law enforcement measures, increased community engagement, and better access to
