Frank Mosley, a 20-year-old Milwaukee resident, has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a pregnant woman, Erin Mogensen. The incident occurred near 100th and Capitol Drive on November 2, 2023. Mogensen, who was seven weeks pregnant at the time, lost her life in the collision.
Mosley faces the following charges:
- First-degree reckless homicide
- First-degree reckless homicide of an unborn child
- Hit-and-run resulting in death
Following the collision, Mosley fled the scene on foot, as captured by security footage.
An investigation led authorities to identify Mosley as the suspect. They found a Walmart receipt inside the BMW involved in the crash, and surveillance footage from the store provided further evidence linking him to the vehicle.
On November 2, Mosley was apprehended at a residence near 39th and Meinecke. Law enforcement officers discovered him burning paperwork in the backyard, which reportedly connected him to the BMW. Moreover, the BMW’s key was found inside the residence.
Data retrieved from the BMW’s airbag system revealed that just five seconds before the crash, Mosley was traveling at a speed of more than 115 mph. The speed limit on Capitol Drive, where the accident occurred, is 35 mph.
During Mosley’s initial court appearance, it was disclosed that the BMW he was driving had been stolen from a friend who had placed trust in him. A bond of $200,000 was set.
Erin Mogensen’s husband, Alex Mogensen, shared their heart-wrenching story. The couple had celebrated their four-year anniversary the day before the tragic accident. Erin was known for her selflessness, always putting others before herself. Her husband fondly remembered her love for cooking, Disney, and their shared excitement about starting a family. The couple had just announced Erin’s pregnancy to their friends and family on Halloween.
