Milwaukee Man Charged in Two Separate Shootings, Including Fatal Incident

A Milwaukee man, identified as 37-year-old Karen Roby, is facing charges in two separate shootings that occurred within hours of each other. The first incident took place on November 19th at an apartment near 33rd and Center, where Roby allegedly shot and killed his pregnant girlfriend, 30-year-old Tanisha Crawford, in front of her four children following an argument. Crawford was pronounced dead at the scene.

Approximately six hours earlier, prosecutors say Roby shot a man he did not know in the leg at a gas station near 73rd and Capitol. Surveillance video captured the shooting, as well as Roby giving the victim a hug after he got to his feet. According to the criminal complaint, the victim reported that Roby told him he was angry and had a bad day with his girlfriend, apologizing for shooting him.

Roby was apprehended by the police at a hotel in Oak Creek on November 20th. Prosecutors have charged him with multiple felonies, including first-degree intentional homicide in the death of Tanisha Crawford. Roby had been released from prison last year after being convicted of attempted arson in 2018.

The daughter of the victim expressed her confusion and grief, questioning why Roby would shoot her mother in front of her and her siblings. Roby remains in custody as the investigation continues.
