Massachusetts High School Girl Found Safe After Disturbing Attack Goes Viral

A Massachusetts high school girl, Aliyah Konton, has been found safe after a disturbing attack at Mashpee High School went viral on social media. Konton, 15, was beaten and forced to lick the bathroom floor by another girl, leading to a viral video of the incident. The attack took place in Mashpee, Cape Cod, and was captured on Snapchat by a friend of the bully. Konton, who had recently moved to Mashpee, was trying to fit in at the school.

The video showed Konton being slapped, dragged by her hair, punched, and forced to lick the floor by her 13-year-old attacker. The incident was reported to police by a school resource officer on May 25, but parents were not informed until Konton disappeared on June 2. Residents of the small town organized search parties, and Konton was eventually found in nearby Barnstable and returned home.

An unidentified 13-year-old girl is facing seven counts of assault and battery in Falmouth District Court’s juvenile division. An investigation into potential accomplices is ongoing. Parents and community members expressed outrage over the incident and the delayed communication from the school about the attack. Konton’s classmates described her as someone who was trying to fit in and make friends.

  1. While it is certainly a relief that Aliyah Konton has been found safe, it is important to consider the larger issue at hand. The fact that this attack went viral on social media highlights the concerning trend of violence in schools. Instead of focusing solely on the individual incident, we should be questioning the overall safety measures and support systems in place within our educational institutions.

This incident should serve as a wake-up call for school administrators and policymakers to reassess their approach to preventing and addressing violence in schools.
