Masked Suspects Steal ,000 Worth of Merchandise from Gucci Store at Valley Fair Mall

Five masked suspects forcefully entered a Gucci store at Valley Fair Mall on October 5, shoving past a security guard and making off with approximately $50,000 worth of purses and merchandise, according to the San Jose Police Department. The incident was captured on surveillance video.

Reserve officers from the San Jose PD, who were present at the mall, responded to the organized retail theft in progress. During the detainment of the suspects, one of them assaulted an officer. With the assistance of mall security, the reserve officer managed to apprehend one suspect, identified as Shawn Pruitt from Henderson, Nevada. The remaining four suspects fled the scene before additional police officers arrived.

San Jose police’s Robbery Unit is currently investigating the surveillance footage and other evidence to identify the other suspects involved. Pruitt, who had an active warrant for his arrest, was booked into Santa Clara County Mail Jail on charges of robbery, organized retail theft, possession of burglary tools, assault on an officer, and his outstanding warrant.
