Man Wanted for Sword Attack in Daytona Beach

Police in Daytona Beach, Florida are on the hunt for 35-year-old Walter Grimes, who is accused of attacking his friend with a sword. Grimes, who recently became homeless, is the subject of an active warrant as authorities work to locate him.

The incident occurred on Monday night at a Daytona Beach apartment complex on South Beach Street. According to a neighbor who called 911, Grimes approached him and claimed that someone had been stabbed in the apartment he had just left. The victim, who was struck with a samurai sword, had refused to give Grimes his Xbox gaming console, leading to the violent altercation.

Daytona Beach Police PIO, Jimmi Flynt, revealed that Grimes had gone to hang out with his friend but became upset when his request for the gaming console was denied. Flynt described the incident as highly unusual, stating that it was only the third time in his career that he had encountered such a situation.

The victim sustained cuts to his face, shoulder, and hand, causing him to scream as he exited the apartment. A concerned neighbor witnessed the commotion and immediately called the police. The victim was subsequently transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
