Man Struck in Hit-and-Run Incident in South Boston

Boston police are investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred early Thursday morning in South Boston. A man, believed to be around 30 years old, was struck by a red sedan and propelled across Columbia Road at the Exit 14 ramp from Interstate North. The victim suffered severe injuries but is expected to survive.

The initial responder, a Massachusetts State Police sergeant, provided emergency medical aid until medics arrived. The driver of the red sedan fled the scene at a high rate of speed, and a white SUV also left the area. Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was crossing the road while the two vehicles were traveling eastbound. Residents have expressed concerns about the dangerous nature of the area for pedestrians.
