Everoy L. Morrison, a 44-year-old resident of Roselle, has been indicted by a Union County grand jury for the murder of his sister-in-law, Keisha Morrison, and her 9-year-old daughter, Kelsey Morrison. The victims were found deceased inside their home on West 7th Avenue in Roselle in April. Atasha Scott, Morrison’s sister-in-law, had previously stated to the media that an ax was used in the killings.
According to officials, Morrison fled the scene using Keisha Morrison’s BMW and drove to Maryland. He was apprehended by Maryland State Police on stolen vehicle charges and subsequently extradited back to New Jersey in July.
The indictment against Morrison includes charges of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, credit card theft, receiving stolen property, and hindering prosecution. He is currently being held in the Essex County Jail awaiting trial.
Roselle Mayor Donald Shaw expressed gratitude for the efforts of the prosecutor’s office in this case. He stated that the indictment brings some solace to the community, knowing that law enforcement is fully committed to bringing the suspect to justice. Mayor Shaw assured the family that they will receive support and compassion throughout the process.
