Man in Medical Scrubs Steals ,200 Worth of Deodorant, Authorities Seek Public’s Assistance

Authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who brazenly stole over $1,000 worth of deodorant from a CVS drugstore in Agoura Hills, California. The incident occurred on March 17, shortly after 8:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect, who was dressed in blue medical scrubs, entered the store and proceeded to fill a reusable Target bag with various deodorant products. Without making any attempt to pay, he confidently walked out of the store, leaving authorities puzzled.

Although it remains unclear whether the thief had any specific brand preferences, it is evident that he managed to escape with approximately $1,200 worth of stolen goods. The audacity of this shoplifting incident adds to a growing trend of similar crimes in recent years, prompting lawmakers in Sacramento to propose legislation aimed at combating retail theft and illegal online sellers.

In response to the surge in shoplifting incidents, two top Assembly Democrats have cosponsored a bill that seeks to impose harsher penalties and longer prison sentences of up to three years for retail thieves.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is urging anyone with information regarding the deodorant heist to contact the L.A. Crime Stoppers hotline at (800) 222-TIPS (8477). Alternatively, individuals can reach out to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station at (818) 878-1808.
