Man in Critical Condition Following Antioch Shooting

A 53-year-old man is currently in critical, but stable condition after being shot in Antioch on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:25 p.m. in the 800 block of West 2nd Street, near Prospects High School, according to a news release by Antioch police Acting Lt. Matthew Koch.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery. Fortunately, medical professionals expect him to survive.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting was a result of a domestic incident. However, no arrests have been made as of Friday, and the Antioch Police have not released any further information regarding the ongoing investigation.

  1. I am truly saddened to hear about this unfortunate incident. It reminds me of a similar incident that happened in my neighborhood a few years ago.

    I remember it was a peaceful Sunday afternoon when I heard a loud commotion outside. Curiosity got the better of me, so I went to my window to see what was happening. To my horror, I saw a crowd gathered around a man lying on the ground, bleeding profusely.

    I quickly rushed outside to see if I could offer any help.
