Authorities discovered the lifeless body of a man inside his vehicle early Wednesday morning in Antioch, with an apparent gunshot wound, according to local police. The incident occurred in the 600 block of E. 18th Street at approximately 5:22 a.m., after the Contra Costa Fire Protection District requested police assistance for a medical emergency. Upon arrival, fire crews stumbled upon the deceased man, as confirmed by Antioch Police Lt. Matthew Koch in a statement.
The police have initiated a homicide investigation into the incident, marking the fifth such case in 2024. The identity of the deceased individual has not been disclosed publicly, pending the notification of next of kin. Lt. Koch emphasized that the killing appears to be an isolated incident, assuring the public of their safety later in the morning.
