Man Fatally Shot While Driving in East Oakland

A 47-year-old man was tragically killed in a shooting incident early Saturday morning in East Oakland. The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, was found dead inside his vehicle, which had crashed into parked cars on the 1500 block of 12th Avenue. Authorities believe the shooting occurred moments before the crash in the predominantly residential area.

The victim, believed to be a resident of San Lorenzo, was discovered at approximately 1:51 a.m. on Saturday. Investigators are currently working to establish the reasons behind the man’s presence in Oakland and the motive behind the shooting. No arrests have been made, and the police have not released any information regarding potential suspects.

This incident marks the 56th homicide investigation undertaken by the Oakland Police Department this year. Comparatively, at the same time last year, the police had investigated 65 homicides in the city. In an effort to gather information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator, the Oakland Police and Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $10,000.
