Man Fatally Shot in St. Petersburg Home Invasion

A 51-year-old man, identified as Antwan Evans, was shot and killed during a home invasion in St. Petersburg, Florida. The incident occurred on October 9th at a residence on James Avenue South. According to the police, Evans was one of 12 individuals present in the house when an unidentified suspect knocked on the door. When no one answered, the suspect began firing multiple rounds into the home.

Evans, in an attempt to protect his granddaughter, shielded her from the gunfire and was subsequently shot in the abdomen. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Evans’ family members expressed their grief, describing him as a family-oriented individual who had worked in construction for over 30 years.

The St. Petersburg Police Department has confirmed that they believe there was only one shooter involved in the incident. However, no arrests have been made thus far. The victim’s family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses.
