Oakland police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 36-year-old man in the Jingletown area on Thursday afternoon. The victim, an Oakland resident whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, was found with at least one gunshot wound in the 800 block of Kennedy Street, south of Interstate 880.
The incident occurred around 3:36 p.m., and despite immediate medical attention, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The motive behind the killing remains unknown, and no arrests have been made thus far.
This marks the 21st homicide investigation conducted by Oakland police this year, a slightly lower figure compared to the 27 homicides investigated at the same time last year.
