Man Fatally Shot in Oakland, Investigation Underway

The Oakland Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred on the evening of February 16. At approximately 10:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 5800 block of Oakport Street in response to a report of a person shot.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officials were informed that an individual had already transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim, identified as a man, was pronounced dead at the medical facility. A firearm was recovered from the scene, further adding to the complexity of the ongoing investigation.

The OPD Homicide Section has taken over the case, assuming responsibility for unraveling the circumstances surrounding the shooting. As of now, the victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
