Late on Saturday night, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a man in East Los Angeles following an alleged domestic assault incident. The deputies had responded to a call regarding the assault in the 1500 block of North Herbert Avenue. Upon arrival, they observed the suspected assailant fleeing the scene in a green van.
Authorities reported that the deputies located the van on the 3900 block of Snow Drive and attempted to initiate a stop. Exiting their vehicle and drawing their firearms, the deputies found themselves confronted with a dangerous situation. The driver of the van executed a U-turn in a cul-de-sac and then accelerated towards one of the deputies, as stated by the sheriff’s department.
In response to the imminent threat, the deputies discharged their weapons, striking the driver in the torso at approximately 11:47 p.m. The exact number of shots fired and the identities of the deputies involved have not been disclosed by the sheriff’s department. The man, aged between 40 to 45, was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries. One deputy sustained a related injury and received medical treatment.
As of late Sunday morning, the sheriff’s department has not released the name of the deceased individual or provided further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
