Man Charged with Murder in Huntington Beach Stabbing Incident

Orange County prosecutors have officially filed murder charges against Logan Christopher Kelley, a 26-year-old resident of Huntington Beach. Kelley stands accused of stabbing five individuals on the Fourth of July in Huntington Beach, resulting in the deaths of two victims. Court records reveal that he has been charged with two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, one count of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, and one count of battery on police or emergency personnel.

The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. near 16th Street and Pecan Avenue, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement. Upon arrival at a multifamily residential complex, officers discovered multiple victims. While three individuals were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, tragically, two victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased have been identified as William Thomas Collins, 47, and Eric Clayton Hodges, 42, both residents of Huntington Beach.

As the investigation into this case continues, the police have refrained from disclosing further details. Prosecutors have highlighted that if Kelley is found guilty, he may face additional sentencing enhancements for personally using a deadly weapon, attempted premeditated murder, and special circumstances due to having multiple murder convictions in the first or second degree.
