A man, identified as Stacy Lane Mitchell, 49, has been arrested by the Salt Lake County Police Department on several felony charges, including kidnapping, rape, forcible sodomy, and object rape. Mitchell is also facing charges of unlawful possession of another’s ID and providing false personal information to a peace officer.
According to court documents, a victim reported to the police in late August that she had been held against her will by Mitchell for approximately one week. The victim stated that Mitchell threatened her with a gun whenever she tried to leave. She also alleged that Mitchell sexually assaulted her multiple times during her captivity.
Officers were able to locate Mitchell, who initially provided a false name, James Mitchell. However, his true identity was revealed through fingerprinting. It was discovered that James Mitchell is actually Stacy Mitchell’s brother.
During the investigation, officers found discrepancies in the court documents related to the incident. The victim reported that she was sexually assaulted and held in Mitchell’s tent for about a week. She claimed that Mitchell threatened to kill her and her family if she tried to escape. The victim also mentioned that Mitchell’s friend showed her a gun and kept watch over the tent while Mitchell was away.
Mitchell was found in possession of a firearm matching the victim’s description. Additionally, officers discovered a glass pipe, as well as credit cards and identification cards belonging to other individuals.
Mitchell has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on the aforementioned charges.
