A 22-year-old man was apprehended by the authorities in Singapore after being found in possession of approximately 500 stolen Pokémon cards. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, is believed to have pilfered the cards from four different stores in the city-state during the month of May. On May 9, he was caught red-handed when he returned to one of the stores, brandishing an open box of Pokémon cards that did not belong to him, as stated by the Singapore Police Force in a Facebook post on Monday. The remaining Pokémon cards were reportedly stolen on May 2, 4, and 8, with the police managing to establish a connection between the suspect and the other three incidents through surveillance footage and eyewitness testimonies.

The accused was officially charged with theft on Tuesday, marking a significant step towards justice in this case. Interestingly, the sports memorabilia market has also witnessed a significant boom. In September, Michael Jordan’s iconic “Last Dance” jersey was auctioned off for a groundbreaking $10.1 million, while his shoes attained a record-breaking sale at $2.2 million.

The arrest of the 22-year-old suspect in Singapore highlights the importance of safeguarding valuable collectibles and serves as a reminder to hobbyists and enthusiasts alike to remain vigilant.
