A 23-year-old man, Ryan Davis, was arrested in downtown Salt Lake City after allegedly slashing a skateboarder with a machete on Wednesday. The incident occurred on the 300 block of South Main Street. Court documents state that Davis swung the machete at the skateboarder, causing a half-inch laceration in the victim’s left forearm that required stitches.
When questioned by a police officer, Davis admitted to swinging the machete at the skateboarder, claiming that he believed he was fighting a fish. Davis has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of alleged aggravated assault.
This arrest follows Davis’s recent sentencing on three counts of attempted aggravated assault for an incident in July. During that incident, Davis approached a Jack in the Box worker, asked for food, and pulled out a knife when they refused.
