Man Arrested in Gang-Motivated Shooting in San Jose

A 29-year-old man has been apprehended by the San Jose Police Department in connection with a gang-motivated shooting that occurred in March. The incident took place on the evening of March 29 in the 1100 block of McLaughlin Avenue, where a husband and wife were targeted by an unidentified assailant while inside their vehicle. The husband sustained at least one gunshot wound and subsequently transported himself to the hospital, fortunately with non-life-threatening injuries. The wife, on the other hand, remained unharmed.

Following a thorough investigation by the SJPD Gang Investigations Unit (GIU), it was determined that the shooting was indeed gang-related. The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Salvador Rodriguez, a resident of San Jose. In light of this discovery, arrest and search warrants were obtained to further the investigation.

On June 20, GIU detectives, with the assistance of the SJPD Covert Response Unit, successfully located and apprehended Rodriguez. He was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on charges of gang-motivated assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into an occupied vehicle, as stated by the police.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information regarding this incident to come forward and contact Detective Escobedo at 4567@sanjoseca.gov or (408)-277-3835.
