David Osorio, 32, has been arrested in connection to a homicide in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Osorio is accused of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. The arrest took place on October 6.
According to a preliminary report, Fayetteville police officers responded to a death report on September 30 at 1557 N. Leverett Avenue. The victim, identified as 49-year-old Willie McAway, was found on the floor with a bloody face and signs of being beaten.
During the investigation, a motion-activated camera was discovered on the victim’s front porch. The camera recorded video and audio, showing Osorio at the victim’s home for approximately 12 hours. At 2:50 a.m. on September 30, a female witness was seen on the footage running out of the victim’s front door, followed by Osorio carrying a large knife. The woman managed to escape in her car, while Osorio returned to the residence.
An autopsy conducted by the Arkansas State Crime Lab revealed evidence of strangulation, fractures of the hyoid bone and thyroid cartilages, and multiple blunt force injuries to the head, neck, and torso.
During his interview with the police, Osorio claimed that he and the victim had been drinking before a female friend arrived. He stated that he could not remember the morning of September 30 due to being on a drinking binge and consuming two Clonazepam pills along with alcohol. Osorio did not deny killing the victim.
Osorio is being held on a $750,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 25 in Washington County.
