The Lagos Command of the Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of Nwagu Emmanuel for allegedly impersonating a commissioner of police. Emmanuel was apprehended when he attempted to use a fake identification card to secure the release of a suspect from the police headquarters in Lagos. The state Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, revealed this during a press conference held at the Police Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos.

According to Owohunwa, Emmanuel introduced himself as a commissioner of police and presented a counterfeit ID card to support his claim. However, his lack of knowledge about his supposed position raised suspicions, leading to further questioning. Investigations have revealed that Emmanuel has been engaging in such impersonation activities for some time, potentially deceiving numerous individuals.

During the interrogation, Emmanuel claimed that he obtained the fake ID card from an RRS official named Abba, who allegedly sold it to him for N2,000. He admitted to using the card only once when stopped by vehicle inspector officers, where he falsely claimed to be a retired police officer.

In a separate incident, the Lagos Command also paraded Ibrahim Bello, who had been posing as a lawyer and providing legal services to unsuspecting individuals. Bello was reported to the police by the Nigerian Bar Association, Epe Branch. He was arrested while wearing a lawyer’s robe in court, giving the appearance of a genuine legal professional.

The police have urged the public to be cautious and verify the credentials of individuals claiming to hold positions of authority or expertise. Investigations into both cases are ongoing, and appropriate legal actions will be taken against the suspects.
