In a bizarre turn of events, a man was apprehended by the police after barricading himself inside a newly opened marijuana dispensary in Brooklyn. The incident occurred on the evening of April 19th at the Indoor Dispensary located on Newkirk Avenue in Ditmas Park.
Authorities responded to a call reporting a man with a gun at the establishment around 9:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officers encountered an individual who refused to comply with their instructions to exit the premises. Instead, the suspect swiftly retreated to the back of the store, barricading himself inside.
Law enforcement officials swiftly initiated efforts to apprehend the suspect, ultimately succeeding in smoking him out of his hiding spot. Upon conducting a search, it was discovered that the individual, identified as 32-year-old Miguel Stanley, was allegedly in possession of cocaine.
Stanley has been charged with obstructing governmental administration and criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, according to the New York Police Department. Notably, no firearm was recovered during the incident.
It is worth noting that false reports of individuals possessing firearms are occasionally made to expedite police response times, as stated by one officer familiar with the matter.
The Indoor Dispensary, which had just opened its doors to the public, was unfortunately marred by this incident. The motive behind Stanley’s actions remains unclear at this time.
