A 40-year-old man was arrested for attempted murder after leading police on a pursuit Saturday night in Hesperia. The incident occurred on September 9, 2023, at approximately 10:41 p.m. Deputies responded to a report of an assault with a weapon in the 18900 block of Live Oak Street in Hesperia.
According to sheriff’s officials, the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal altercation at a residence, which escalated into a physical assault. The suspect allegedly used a knife to assault the victim and threatened witnesses. Upon the arrival of deputies, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle, but the suspect failed to comply, leading to a pursuit that lasted several miles. Eventually, the suspect’s vehicle was disabled, and law enforcement took the suspect into custody.
The suspect, a 40-year-old resident of Hesperia, was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center. He faces charges of attempted murder, threatening a crime with intent to terrorize, and evading a peace officer with disregard of safety. The victim, a 48-year-old Hesperia man, was transported to a trauma center for treatment of injuries.
