A local man, identified as 27-year-old Tyler Carhut from Toronto, has been arrested following a multi-state vehicle chase after allegedly firing shots at police officers. The incident began on Friday when Carhut was found asleep in his car with a gun on his lap at the 213 rest stop along Route 7 in Toronto, Jefferson County, Ohio.
Upon being approached by the police, Carhut reportedly fired three shots and fled through Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The chase finally came to an end when Carhut was apprehended by McDonald Pennsylvania police. It was discovered that Carhut had several outstanding warrants for his arrest in Jefferson County.
Carhut is currently being held in the Washington County jail.
