A man has been apprehended by authorities following a bomb threat at a North San Jose office park. Felix Arnaz, a 56-year-old resident of San Jose, was taken into custody on the evening of July 3, several miles away from the location of the bomb scare. San Jose police responded to the incident after receiving a call regarding a potential explosive device planted behind a business on Ridder Park Drive and Fox Drive.
Upon arrival, the San Jose Police Department’s bomb squad and SWAT team discovered an object resembling an improvised explosive device. After careful examination, it was determined that the item was an incomplete but viable IED. A thorough search of the area was conducted, but no additional explosives were found.
Following an investigation, Felix Arnaz was identified as the suspect. Police tracked him to a parking lot near Aborn and Ruby avenues in San Jose’s Evergreen neighborhood, where he was apprehended. As a precautionary measure, nearby businesses were evacuated while authorities searched Arnaz’s vehicle for any additional explosives. However, none were found.
Arnaz was subsequently booked into the Elmwood men’s jail in Milpitas on July 4, facing charges related to possessing a destructive device. He was initially held without bail. Court records indicate that an arraignment is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, and Arnaz also has pending court appearances for drug-related offenses later in the month.
