Male Juvenile Arrested for Multiple Shootings in Long Beach

Long Beach police have apprehended a male juvenile believed to be responsible for a series of shooting incidents that occurred in the city over the past few months. The suspect, whose identity has been withheld due to his status as a minor, was taken into custody early Saturday morning following a shooting incident on Baltic Avenue. The victim, a 16-year-old male, was found with a gunshot wound to his lower body.

The arrest comes after a string of shootings that took place on Friday and Saturday. On Friday night, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1500 block of West 20th Street, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. Shortly after, another shooting was reported in the 2900 block of Webster Avenue, again with no reported injuries.

Detectives were able to link the suspect to a previous shooting that occurred on February 27 in the 2300 block of Baltic Avenue. In that incident, no injuries were reported. The police department’s SWAT team executed search warrants at two locations on Baltic Avenue and Adriatic Avenue, recovering firearms believed to have been used in the shootings.

The motive behind the shootings remains under investigation as the suspect remains in custody. The shooting victim from Saturday morning was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition.
