Louisiana Man Faces Charges in Second Homicide at Same Address

Baton Rouge police have leveled additional murder charges against Cedrick Lang, 35, in connection with a second homicide that occurred at the same address where another murder transpired in July. Initially deemed a suicide, the December 2022 death of 26-year-old Christina Hobbs has been reclassified following the discovery of its connection to the more recent case.

On December 26, 2022, Hobbs was found dead in her residence at Florida Vista Condominiums from a gunshot wound. This case drew parallels to the July 3 incident where 42-year-old Rachel Johnson suffered a brutal death attributed to blunt force trauma in the same vicinity.

According to police reports, Johnson’s body exhibited significant bruising and indications of being violently struck on the face and head, a scenario corroborated by a witness who reportedly saw Lang assaulting Johnson and had previously heard him threaten her life.

Lang, who was already incarcerated for Johnson’s murder, has been recharged with second-degree murder in Hobbs’ case. In the ongoing investigation, police have unearthed multiple reports from three separate individuals who attested to being physically abused by Lang during their relationships with him, leading to two protective orders being filed against him. Authorities continue to probe the extent of Lang’s alleged violent tendencies as he remains in custody at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
