A 78-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, David Helbling, who also served as a local pastor, has been arrested following a report of a past sexual assault of a minor in Moreno Valley. The arrest was made by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department on February 14, after an investigation identified Helbling as the suspect. The incident was reported to have occurred on January 30 in the 23000 block of Hemlock Avenue.
During the arrest, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at a location on Hemlock Avenue, where evidence related to the reported crime was collected. Helbling was subsequently booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center on multiple charges, including suspicion of kidnapping, kidnapping to commit rape, and multiple counts of sexual assault of a child.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities believe there may be additional victims. The Sheriff’s Department has not disclosed any prior relationship between Helbling and the victim at this time.
David Helbling, who has held multiple positions at Assemblies of God USA, has been featured in videos posted online, preaching and participating in services at the Blessing Center First Assembly of God on Hemlock Avenue.
