Lawsuit Accuses Producer Diplo of Distributing Revenge Porn

A new lawsuit has been filed against producer Diplo, born Thomas Wesley Pentz, accusing him of distributing revenge porn. The lawsuit, filed by a Jane Doe in California, alleges that Diplo distributed sexual images and videos of her without her consent. Diplo’s representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.

Diplo, known for his collaborations with artists such as Skrillex, Justin Bieber, and Usher, has become a household name in the music industry. He is also a regular performer at EDM and country music festivals, having hosted his own showcase at the Stagecoach country music festival in April.

According to the lawsuit, the woman, who resides in New York, had an ongoing sexual relationship with Diplo between 2016 and 2023. The suit claims that she explicitly expressed her disapproval of Diplo recording their sexual activities without her consent or distributing any images or videos to third parties. However, in November 2023, a third party unknown to Jane Doe informed her that she possessed explicit images and videos of her and Diplo engaging in sexual activities.

The lawsuit further alleges that between 2018 and 2023, Diplo recorded himself having sex with Jane Doe without her knowledge or consent. It is claimed that he then shared these images and videos with third parties via text messaging and Snapchat.

Jane Doe reported the incident to the NYPD in November 2023. The lawsuit states that she has suffered personal injury, extreme emotional distress, anxiety, depression, and loss of privacy due to the disclosure and distribution of intimate images and videos depicting her genitals and face during sexually explicit activities.

This is not the first time Diplo has faced legal accusations. In 2021, he was sued by Shelly Auguste, a Los Angeles woman, for sexual abuse, revenge porn, and other misconduct. Auguste’s lawsuit alleges that Diplo solicited her for sex when she was underage and later had sex with her without disclosing his sexually transmitted infections. Diplo denied these claims in a 2021 Instagram post and won a $1.2-million arbitration ruling in 2022, which found that Auguste’s social media posts violated the terms of a mutual restraining order. Auguste’s lawsuit against Diplo is scheduled for a civil trial in January.
