In the early hours of Friday morning, a convenience store in Palo Alto fell victim to an armed robbery. The Palo Alto Police Department responded to a call reporting the incident at the 7-Eleven located at 708 Colorado Ave. at approximately 12:30 a.m. According to a news release from the police department, the suspect, armed with a knife, approached the store clerk and demanded cash from the register.
The clerk, a man in his 30s, complied with the suspect’s demands, fearing for his safety. Seizing the opportunity, the suspect then reached across the counter and snatched an open box of cigars, valued at around $45. After completing the robbery, the suspect swiftly fled the scene. Despite an immediate search of the area, law enforcement officers were unable to locate the perpetrator.
A surveillance image of the suspect was released by the police department, revealing a figure wearing a dark face covering, a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, dark pants, and dark shoes. The clerk provided a description of the suspect as a male aged between 25 and 30 years old. The suspect was last seen running westbound through the store’s parking lot.
