Knife-Wielding Suspect Assaults NYPD Officers in the Bronx

A knife-wielding suspect, identified as Patrick Young, 34, with a lengthy criminal record, attacked two NYPD officers in the Bronx on Tuesday. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. in front of the Brothers Police and Security store on Webster Avenue in Bedford Park.

According to law enforcement sources, Young approached a police cruiser occupied by two officers while brandishing a large knife. After dropping the weapon, he proceeded to repeatedly strike the driver’s side window, causing it to shatter. The officers exited the vehicle to confront Young, but he swiftly assaulted them before they could apprehend him.

Sources indicate that the officers resorted to using a Taser to subdue Young, who was subsequently taken into custody. He was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital for a psychological evaluation and treatment for cuts on his hand. Young, a Bronx resident, now faces charges of assault and criminal mischief.

Young’s extensive criminal history includes over 20 prior arrests, with one recent incident involving menacing with a weapon, as per police sources. The two officers involved in the altercation received medical attention for contusions and scrapes at North Central Hospital.
