FREMONT – Two juveniles have been apprehended by the Fremont Police Department in connection with a carjacking incident that occurred last week. The incident took place at approximately 4:45 p.m. on April 2 at an apartment complex situated on Stevenson Boulevard in Fremont, according to a news release issued by the police department on Thursday. The victim, who escaped unharmed, reported that the suspects forcefully pushed her to the ground before making off with her vehicle.
Promptly after the incident, officers discovered an unoccupied vehicle nearby, its engine still running. The vehicle had been previously reported as stolen, leading investigators to believe that the suspects had utilized it to reach the scene. Subsequently, law enforcement officers located the carjacked vehicle and initiated a pursuit that extended into Oakland. During the chase, a helicopter crew from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office reported observing the suspects fleeing from the vehicle. The suspects were eventually apprehended and now face charges of carjacking and evading police by driving in the opposite direction of traffic. They have been booked into juvenile hall.
The Fremont Police Department is commended for their swift response and successful apprehension of the suspects. The cooperation between law enforcement agencies, including the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, played a crucial role in bringing this incident to a resolution. The victim, although shaken by the ordeal, did not sustain any injuries.
