Judge to Rule on Death Penalty in Desean Brown Murder Case

In a recent competency hearing lasting nearly three hours, Judge Megan Shanahan considered excluding the death penalty for Desean Brown, accused of the murders of his girlfriend, Nyteisha Lattimore, and her 3-year-old son, Nylo, in December 2020. Lattimore was found near a river after being stabbed multiple times, while her son remains missing. Three experts presented conflicting opinions about Brown’s mental capacity, but all noted his denial of the crimes. Tensions flared as Nylo’s father was escorted out of the courtroom due to his evident distress. A decision is expected on Sept. 26.
